Era iniziato come un semplice passatempo, ma dopo essere stato licenziato, l'inglese David Naylor ha deciso di investire tempo e denaro in un simulatore che riproduce in ogni dettaglio la cabina di pilotaggio di un Boeing 737. David non aveva grandi conoscenze di elettronica e ingegneristica, ma con tanta pazienza e un intenso studio è riuscito ad assemblare tutto da solo pezzo dopo pezzo, trovando l'oggettistica su Internet e in negozi specializzati e risparmiando una cifra da non credere. Sembrerebbe, infatti, che il valore del simulatore - costruito nel soggiorno della sua abitazione - raggiunga i 114 mila dollari, ma David ne ha spesi 'solamente' 17 mila. Il programma utilizzato dal 41enne permette di viaggiare e spostarsi tra circa 200 aeroporti internazionali scegliendo tra varie condizioni climatiche.

Incredibly the ex-catering company manager had no electrical or engineering experience before building the ten-foot-wide cockpit which takes up the entire room. Now he can pilot a 737 - an aircraft used by many airlines - with computer generated images on an enormous 4K screen mimicking the pilot's view and the plane's movements. David's simulator contains exactly the same seats, controls and dials that would be found inside the real thing.
